Dan Miller is the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the Desert Sands Unified School District. Dan has been in education for nearly 30 years with teaching and administrative experience at the middle/high school levels. Key to his work is promoting a classroom environment that nurtures creativity, individuality and innovative thought, where community, students, teachers and administrators feel they are part of a collaborative effort to ensure every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential. To support 21st Century learning, Dan initiated the purchase of over 20,000 Chromebooks for Desert Sands that established the foundation for launching the district’s innovative Connect 1:1 initiative. Dan facilitated the implementation of the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) in Desert Sands, one of the six original districts in California, to provide a dynamic college & career dashboard allowing students to monitor their own progress toward college and career readiness. Dan serves on a number of regional college and community boards, and is a primary author for the Coachella Valley Regional Plan for College and Career Readiness designed to connect education with business and industry, the community, and postsecondary partners.
