Dr. John Steach

Dr. John Steach just completed his first year as Superintendent of Evergreen Public Schools following three years as Deputy Superintendent.  Dr. Steach’s philosophy aligns with the John Dewey quote, “If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.” His vision for Evergreen is to leverage instructional technology to move beyond individualization and differentiation to a truly personalized education experience for all.

Before joining Evergreen, he served three years as the Canby School District superintendent in Oregon and seven years as an administrator in the Richland School District.  Prior to his education career, Dr. Steach worked 17 years in Engineering and Operations Management in both the chemical and nuclear industries.  Serving eight years on the Richland school board provided motivation to dedicate himself full time to serving students and the community.  Dr. Steach received all three degrees from Washington State University, a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Masters in Business Administration and doctorate in Education Leadership.

He relocated four years ago to Vancouver with his wife, Heather.  Their two adult children live in Vancouver WA, and New Haven CT.
